Today we are going to talk about an easy way to get the monogram or applique placement you want. We've all seen them, the cute applique or monogram at the bottom of a dress, a monogram on the back of a racerback tank top, or the popular monogram at the bottom corner of running shorts. You want to try it yourself, but you don't know where to start. You have come to the rigth place!
The first thing you will want to do is choose the item you are going to embellish and a design. For my example, I am using this dress and crab applique by Belliboos. As you can see, I printed out a copy of my applique. You will do the same using your favorite embroidery editing or embroidery font software.
Next, cut our your design or monogram and place it on the garmet.
This is a great way to make sure the design is a good size for the area being embroidered.
Finally, before you hoop and embroider, pin one side of the design to the garmet and using the center line on the paper, fold the pattern in half.
Mark the center point as well as a point above and below the center point on your garmet.
Use a disappearing ink marker or chalk to make these marks.
Once you have your center line marked, remove the pattern, hoop, and embroider your garmet.
Now you have your applique or monogram in the exact spot you want and the size you expect.
